This is just a reminder that our next HLA of Knoxville meeting is Thursday, APRIL 16th. Meeting time is at 7 p.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1001 Ebenezer Road, Knoxville. (We are meeting on the 3rd Thursday this month due to Easter services at the church this week.) Hope you can make it!
If anyone can volunteer to bring a snack or 2 liter drink, please let me know at ldpullins@aol.com or Maureen Hinds at danbury103@gmail.com or mdhinds@bechtel.com or Susan Underwood at gotsusantn@gmail.com.
If you are planning to participate in the Chattanooga Walk4Hearing on May 16th, please join our Knoxville Chapter of HLAA team at the Walk4Hearing website at www.walk4hearing.org as soon as possible. There isn't much time left and I'd like to see at least 10-12 walkers on our team. There will be packets of information and collection envelopes at the meeting. I would like to order t-shirts for our walk team and will need to know the shirt sizes of the persons walking with us.
Start asking your friends and family to sponsor you! There are many ways you can get donations. Send a sponsorship letter to the people in your address book, ask your employer or health professional to make a contribution, ask your Sunday School class or special group to support you, write about it on your website or blog if you have one and provide a link to our Chapter Team on Facebook, etc. Secure donations can be made online at the Walk4Hearing website and are tax deductible. Or checks can be made out to Walk4Hearing and I will be happy to forward the checks to the Walk's Treasurer. I know we are in difficult financial times right now but the needs for the programs relating to hearing loss cannot wait for "better days" or for the government to "bail us out." Your assistance and effort is really needed and greatly appreciated. If for some reason you cannot walk with us, please consider doing your part and make a donation of behalf HLAA and hearing loss. Tennessee is the VOLUNTEER State....let's show HLAA what we can do!
If you are planning to go to the 2009 HLAA Convention in June, you have an opportunity to get a 25% refund on your registration fee. All you have to do is volunteer for 8 hours sometime during the convention. Email me or see our website for details. AND, please forward this email to anyone who might be interested in coming to our meetings! Have a great day and we'll see you soon on APRIL 16th!!!!

HLAA Walk4Hearing on May 16th!!!
Our HLA of Knoxville chapter is partnering with the Chattanooga Chapter for the upcoming Walk4Hearing on Saturday, May 16th. It will be held at the Chattanooga State Technical Community College on the BEAUTIFUL and COLORFUL Riverwalk and promises to be great fun with great PEOPLE!
The HLA of Knoxville Team is excited to be a part of this walk because HLAA has made a difference in our hearing journey. We are walking this very special walk because hearing loss is a public health issue that is third in line only to heart disease and arthritis. The HLAA Walk4Hearing goal is to increase awareness for hearing loss and raises funds for local and national programs.
HLAA advocates for ALL of us and focus on issues that are important. There are 33 million people in the U.S. who suffer from hearing loss and 2 million are deaf. HLAA opens doors for MANY of us and provides information where we can get help and assistance for their hearing loss. HLAA has helped us as individuals to be better persons and more independent so that we can reach out to others.
Please consider making a donation to our team for HLAA. All donations are tax deductible and you will receive an acknowlegement for your generosity.
